Edward Discovers the Power of Listening ... 🧬

Sunday Evening

Edward is in his special corner.

Before he enters the Theatre of his Mind

He reflects on the past week …

What an incredible learning experience!

Edward met with all his team members.

Depending on the preference of each

Went for long walks

Met in a meeting room

Had lunch outside the office.

Edward now knows …

What he did not know.

He started to get to know his co-workers

Beyond the day-to-day.

He learned more and more

About what makes them tick

Where they come from

Where they like to get to.

Of course, it was good to hear

They all like the new dynamics

The Monday morning commitment meeting

The celebration opportunity on Friday

Everybody working better together.

But …

While Edward thought

He would be excited after such great interactions …

He felt exhausted and – in a certain way –

Disappointed with himself.

How could he not have noticed

He had been leading

In such limited manner.

He had been more focused on what he thought

Even while implementing the new dynamics.

Edward now knows …

What he did not realize enough:

Every one of the team

Is unique in one’s own way

Able to contribute

In manner’s somebody else can’t.

Edward now knows …

What he had overlooked:

Speaking about working better together

Is not enough.

Explaining … demonstrating …

That it makes sense is not good enough.

Edward knows …

He did everything he said he would

To himself, indeed Edward honored his word

To – and for – others

He can do so much better.

True collaboration

Begins with understanding.

Now reviewing the week – once more

Edward realizes

Every interaction with his team members

And with anybody else

Is an opportunity to learn …

To learn every single time.

Edward realizes there is only

One pre-condition for that to happen …

Listen … and listen more …

Start by listening first.

All interactions this week were so good

Because he listened.

Next week Edward

Will be more present and listen first.

Edward smiles now

Feeling energized and ready for the week ahead.

Realizes he made additional progress.

He will take the following visualization

With him in the Theatre of his Mind:

Seeing himself listening first

Creating new possibilities with every interaction.

A true example of the Law of Effect and Cause.
