Saturday evening,
Edward reflects about the week:
Growth and evolution.
The best way to describe it.
Not just within the team, but within himself as well.
Edward knows and feels
The same happened with his team.
…
Edward was well prepared for the week.
He had visited his Theatre of the Mind several times,
Visualizing the individual conversations
With his team members.
He had prepared himself to listen … and to listen more.
…
Edward discovered these past weeks
That he can BE more –
Personally and professionally.
Day by day, in every way,
That truth feels stronger now.
His discovery made him believe
That his team members might feel the same.
…
Twice this week,
Edward and Sarah went for long walks.
The park close to the office
Proved to be a special meeting place.
…
“Sarah,” Edward began,
“Let’s start with a key question:
What does Freedom mean to you?”
…
“Wow, Edward …”
Sarah smiled, taking a deep breath.
“Let’s continue our walk
So I can formulate my thoughts.”
They walked in silence for a while.
Edward felt at peace.
…
He had learned so much these past months,
Yet knew there was still so much to discover.
His biggest discovery?
Feeling good about himself:
Who and how he is …
What he does and how he does it.
Being more,
Making every day a better one –
This had become the foundation for everything
In his personal and professional life.
Living life on his own terms …
That is the journey he is on.
…
“You know, Edward,” Sarah finally said,
“During this walk now …
As well as when I pause …
And enter the Theatre of my Mind …
I discover more and more that
What truly counts is what I want,
Not what others expect of me,
Or what I think others expect of me.”
She paused, her voice growing steadier.
“I’ve realized, Edward, that I want to live my own life.
That is Freedom to me.”
…
Both stayed silent for a while.
“You know,” Sarah continued,
“I discovered I’ve lived my entire life
In conflict –
Between what I want and what I feel others want from me.
All the conversations we’ve had
Have helped me find my personal WHY.
What I want, and why I want it –
This is what makes life worthwhile.
That’s what I feel. That’s what I know now.
And that is what I want to build on.”
…
Edward and Sarah
Sat down on a bench,
Overlooking the pond.
Ducks and swans
Played their game in peace.
…
“Thank you, Sarah, for sharing this,” Edward said.
“You put so well into words what I feel as well …
Thank you.”
Edward felt grateful for Sarah’s honesty.
It deepened his own resolve
To continue the journey of self-discovery with his team.
“Let’s continue discovering our true and best Way,” he added.
Sarah smiled,
And the conversation drifted into silence once more,
The pond reflecting the serenity of their thoughts.
